Our History
The Petroleum Club of WA was established in 1966 by an enthusiastic group of Explorers who believed there was a need to set up a facility that provided the opportunity for networking and information exchange.
The very first official Petroleum Club Dinner meeting was held on Tuesday 10th January 1967 at the Ocean Beach Hotel at a cost of $3.00 per person. How times have changed!
Although the groundwork for the Club's establishment had been conducted almost exclusively by explorers, it was agreed that the Club membership should be expanded to include all persons who had an interest in the Oil and Gas industry, rather than be limited to geoscientists; and thus the evolution of an organisation.
As our petroleum industry has matured, we have seen the Club grow and accommodate the needs of a greater diversity of members, without losing sight of its original objectives.
The Club celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2016 and we are proud of our achievement in continuing to successfully promote the industry.
